Mudslides and Amtrak

It's the rainy season (seeing as it's somewhere between, oh, September and June), and that means mudslides are sort of a pressing concern. It's a little more alarming now, though, because Amtrak ridership in the area is rising. The combination means the mandatory several-day shutdown after a bad slide is doing some serious damage to commuting around the Sound. Crosscut took a look at the entire debacle. [CC]
