Ace Hotel Watch

The Seattle Times finally hopped on the Ace Hotel train last week by publishing an NYT profile of owner, founder, and Bellevue-native Alex Calderwood. As we all know, the super-hip mini chain got its start as a vaguely sketchy venue in the heart of Belltown. Fast forward about a decade and it's evolved into a hipster-friendly hotspot and cool-kid celebrity enclave in Manhattan (with an admittedly great restaurant), with West Coast outposts in Portland and Palm Springs. Those Eastside kids, growing up so fast and making us proud. [Seattle Times]
