The News Tribune reports that there's a big debate down by the Bonneville Dam over the humane killing of sea lions, who are depleting salmon populations and making it really difficult for humans to... well, deplete salmon populations. Apparently attempts to deter them via rubber pellets and the like have failed, and now fishery managers in Southern Washington are forced to euthanize the little guys via lethal injection. Animal advocates are obviously pretty peeved over the whole situation, but fishery employees say their livelihoods are threatened by sea lions snatching up salmon all day long. Can't we all just get along? [The News Tribune]
