Mandatory Energy Efficiency Measurements

A new program by the City of Seattle requires building owners to measure the energy efficiency of their buildings starting this fall in an attempt to cut energy consumption by 20%. Owners are also required to share their stats with the city and renters or buyers, which encourages them to increase their buildings' efficiency to lure in potential tenants. What this means for you: if you're an owner, get it together. If you're in the market for new digs, you might save a ton of money on utilities by choosing a more efficient building. [P-I]
