$2 Hotel Tax Is a Go

The City of Seattle wants to up its tourism budget now that Olympia's pretty much killing the state budget, but the financing is a little bit tight. Solution: a $2 nightly tax on Seattle hotel stays, with all the proceeds going toward promoting Seattle as a winter travel hotspot. 53 hotels have already signed on for the measure, which begs the question: if we don't even want to be here in the winter, how do they plan on selling anybody else on it?
