Washington's Own Hobbit House Erected on Bainbridge Island

New, 2 comments

While this place isn't in Seattle, Chris Whited's construction on Bainbridge Island certainly fits the "strange" category. Neighbors are calling the 59-year old contractor's curious creation the "hobbit house," as while it sports proportions large enough to accommodate full-sized humans, the wavy curvature of the roof, slanted walls, and rounded awnings give off a mythical, Middle Earth kind of feel. To add to the ambiance, Whited also handmade a wooden, red and purple waterwheel that rests on the side of the cottage with plans to install a little pond at the base to where water can trickle. When completed, Bellingham Herald reports that the "hobbit house" will likely become a vacation rental.
