Skyscraper Purchases

MetLife and Clarion Partners are buddying up to purchase the 55-story tower at 1201 Third Avenue (Please don't call it the Washington Mutual Tower) and appear to have the winning bid, beating out Canadian real estate company Ivanhoe Cambridge. Puget Sound Business Journal is reporting the sale would be about $550 million for the former HQ of Washington Mutual, which has been on the market since July. Now all Seattle's second-tallest skyscraper needs is a catchy new name. [PSBJ]
