LUKE Haynes (capitalization on purpose) calls himself "the Lady Gaga of the sewing world" and once you know that, the house on 15th Avenue East on Capitol Hill currently covered entirely in quilts begins to make sense. Make sure you take a peak before someone's snagged a piece of it.
With the help of 500 pounds of Goodwill store blankets and 30 assistants, Haynes was able to cover the entire house is about two days. The quilt is meant to draw attention to the arrival of Ada's Technical Books, which will take over as tenant of the abandoned home.
Some quilts have been taken from the house, likely due to some people who needed them for keeping warm. Haynes has since replaced them and left extra ones out front for anyone else who needs one.
