MOHAI Grand Opening At Naval Reserve Armory On Dec. 29

The Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) has announced that it will hold the public grand opening of the restored Naval Reserve Armory at Lake Union Park on Saturday, December 29.

The celebration will include a week full of activities and performances to showcase the museum's exhibits and programming.

"Moving to South Lake Union is truly a transformational experience for MOHAI," said Leonard Garfield, MOHAI's Executive Director, "We are simply thrilled to welcome the community into our new space and provide individuals with all kinds of new ways of engaging with, and learning about, our region's history."

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 am., the museum will open its doors until 8pm both Saturday and Sunday with performances and activities throughout the day.

Rainier Beer fans will want to check out the iconic, 12-foot tall Rainier 'R' sign, which has been restored and will be placed atop the Wall of Icons in the museum's Faye G. Allen Grand Atrium.

MOHAI is located inside the restored Naval Reserve Armory, which was built by the Works Progress Administration in 1941 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
