"The waterfront was a place of gaff hooks, warehouses and stink." So explains the New York Times in their Tuesday article on the current transformation that Seattle is undergoing. Between the demolition of the Viaduct, the construction of the tunnel and the construction on the waterfront, there's $4.5 billion worth of work going into Seattle's waterfront transformation. The article quotes a Seattle Department of Transportation rep in saying that the effects of Hurricane Sandy helped convince Seattle residents to agree to the plan, which seems a bit revisionist to us, but, here we are.
