Not OK with OKC; South Lake Union Goodwill; Sale Shakedown

Friends, gather round -- today we bring you Curbed Seattle's very first foray into retail coverage. Racked Seattle is helmed by none other than Alison Brownrigg. We're very proud to introduce her (and her fabulous retail coverage) to you today. Got fun tips for our in-house sartorial mastermind? Hit the tipline at seattle@curbed.com.

Thunder Kerfuffle: No doubt Oklahoma’s Warpaint Clothing Co. is experiencing what is known as the “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” and “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” phenomena this week after a Twitter shit storm was sparked by their OKC/Thank You Seattle t-shirts, which feature a modified Sonic’s logo and “Thank you Seattle – OKC” on the back. When King 5 News tried to get permission to use their photo on air, Warpaint tweeted that the sentiment behind the shirt was meant as a sign of appreciation and respect toward Seattle. Obviously that sentiment was lost on most of the city, and after reportedly receiving death threats from crazed fans, the company removed the shirt from their site. It’s up again, now though. In case you want one.

News Briefs:

S.L.U.G. (South Lake Union Goodwill, get it?): King 5 News is also reporting that Goodwill has announced plans to open a “different kind of Goodwill store, one that’s smaller and more modern in design” in South Lake Union this July. [King 5]
