Paul Hayden Kirk Designs House for Water Lovers

Architectural lesson of the day: local Northwest architect, Paul Hayden Kirk loved horizontal lines. And the water. Apparently he manifested his love of both in designing this 5,520 sq. ft. architectural beaut on the Laurelhurst waterfront. Sitting on almost half an acre of land, this 5-bed, 4.5-bath horizontal line-happy home features a few architectural surprises, as Kirk even puts his own spin on the bathroom. We were initially fooled by and unable to immediately identify the mysterious bathroom "built ins," but were delighted (albeit embarrassed) when said "totally unique" structures were just a sink and a shelf. Looking out all the floor-to-ceiling windows, residents will also notice the guy's love of water, as Kirk put an in-ground pool in the backyard just yards away from Lake Washington. And according to the listing, future buyers of the house also have a 1/6 ownership in the tennis court and dock adjacent to the house. Price tag for a Northwest designer-built house: $3.595 million.
