Walk, take a bus or hop a cab down to City Hall Thursday afternoon to yell at the private, unregulated towing companies that rip you off when you park your car sideways. The City Council's Governmet Performance and Financie Committee will take public testimony on Nick Licata's bill to regulate the fees towing companies can charge for impounds from private property. You may remember that the Seattle Times ran a series of outraged columns by Danny Westneat after the towing industry defended a charge of $800 for towing some hapless dude's ride. Licata's bill would also put a cap on storage charges. The hearing for said bill starts at 2PM.
