The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that a house that floats on water but cannot move on its own is still a home and not a vessel. That's a big deal for those here in Seattle fighting to keep their Lake Union floating homes and houseboats from being run (towed?) out of town. The Seattle City Council continues to hammer out its own laws regarding vessels vs. floating homes, though this ruling should dictate just how hard they can come down on current homeowners.
