Bell Street Park Project Will Create New Belltown Public Space

Back in 1998, plans to create a linear park that ran along Bell Street Park were first introduced. Now in 2013, it looks like those plans might come to fruition.

The Bell Street Park plan would close one of the lanes on Bell St. between 1st & 5th Avenues. That lane would then be converted into park space. The remaining lane would remain drivable in one direction but would also include an improved bike lane and a parallel parking lane. The space between would be filled with trees, benches and sidewalks.

Seattle Parks and Rec will host a public meeting on Tuesday, January 22nd at the Belltown Community Center. The project is expected to begin in March with completion set for Winter 2013/2014.
