You might get the feeling that Chase Bank branches are spawning everywhere in Seattle. Just last month, longtime Fremont Greek restaurant Costas Opa announced it was closing its doors, with Chase taking over the 34th Street location.
Today comes word, via Queen Anne View, that Easy Street Records will close its doors January 18th with Chase Bank taking over a few days later.
According to an online letter from Easy Street's owner, Matt Vaughan, the landlord wasn't averse to granting the shop another ten-year lease, but only at a higher rent. " We felt this might be risky, particularly with the current economic landscape of retail and some changes that had affected the neighborhood," Vaughan wrote. Hence the decision to close. The West Seattle store will remain open, however.
