If the Pike Place Market Waterfront Expansion plan happens, and it probably will since the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority executive director told DJC that construction should begin by mid-2014, it could lead to a major expansion of the Seattle Aquarium and it's surrounding area.
Proposed plans for the expanded aquarium include a new structure under the Overlook Walk that would include an education center and theatre, the addition of a continuous roof to connect all of Pier 60, a redevelopment of 30,000 square feet of Pier 59 and the creation of a brand new 35,000 square-foot South Wing which would contain all-new exhibits.
