Shutdown In Seattle

Unless you're going to do it via boat, don't think about going through Hiram M. Chittenden Locks while the government shutdown is in effect. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that park grounds at the Ballard Locks will be closed, starting at 4 p.m. Cyclists and pedestrians won't have access. Boats can still cross the locks but a staff shortage will mean waiting times are increased. Also affected by the shutdown, Pioneer Square's Klondike Gold Rush Museum.
