The Curbed Cup, Curbed Seattle annual Neighborhood of the Year tournament, begins today. The deserving candidates will be presented in two match-ups per day through the week, with results reviewed on Friday. Polls are open for 24 hours, starting now!

Let's find out more about today's first match-up…

In this corner…Belltown.. Everyone wants to live in Belltown. No, seriously, we've seen the data. Seattle's condo mecca balances between young folks just starting out and retirees looking for an easier life. It probably helps to have a superhero roaming the streets. Some of the homes are super-pricy and some of them have pretty stupid names, but people keep flocking for the bars, restaurants & overall lifestyle. About the only person who doesn't want to live here anymore? Tim Lincecum.

In the other corner…Central District. While some people are lining up to bay top-dollar in Belltown, others are looking to Central District as an affordable but still cool alternative. It's the third-most searched neighborhood by homebuyers and among Seattle's affordable neighborhoods, relatively-speaking. Plenty of new townhomes and condos to choose from here, too, Belltown. So there!

So, which neighborhood moves on to the Elite Eight?
