Billionaire Paul Allen Finally Sells Allan Island For $8M

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen purchased Allan island in the San Juans back in 1992 with the hopes of building a dream home. Alas, the secluded nature of the island (accessible only by plane or boat, no electricity) made things difficult and in 2005 he re-listed it for $25M. The 292-acre island didn't sell and sit empty. So he dropped the price to $13.5M in 2011. So it remained until this weekend when it finally sold for a "mere" $8M. Reports vary, but that's roughly what he paid for the island originally. No word on the buyer yet but it'll be interesting to find out what future plans are for this secluded paradise.
