New, 1 comment

Seattle Municipal Tower. Henry M. Jackson Federal Building. Woodland Park Children's Zoo. University of Washington Engineering Library and Loew Hall. Pike Place's Sanitary Public Market & Triangle Market buildings. Seattle Aquarium. Seattle City Light's East Pine Substation.

These are just some (and we do mean just some) of the lasting architectural projects that have helped to define Seattle. All of them are brought to you by architect Fred Bassetti and his firms. Bassetti died Thursday morning at the age of 96, leaving behind a profound influence on Seattle's skylines, Northwest architecture and on the profession of design itself.

Bassetti and his firms received nearly 100 awards, including 27 Awards of Merit or Honor Awards from AIA Seattle. Bassetti's civic commitment also made him an indelible part of the community in Seattle and beyond. Read more about his life and work here.
