Tunnel Watch

Later this month, the world's biggest single-bore drill will arrive in Seattle to begin digging the Highway 99 tunnel. At 57 1/2 feet across and weighing 6,800 tons, it's gonna take one big-ass ship to get it all the way from Japan to Terminal 46 on the Seattle Waterfront. The Seattle Times has the deets and numbers that make up that journey, which is expected to end around the end of March. [Seattle Times]
