Two Tukwila Towers Could Be On The Horizon

In 2010, developers Omar and Christine Lee of South Center WA LLC purchased property at 223 Andover Park E. in Tukwila, formerly the site of a Circuit City store. Now, they want to turn it into a duo of 17-story buildings that include a hotel and residences.

Standing in the way of the 180-foot towers? Zoning laws, which limit buildings to 115 feet and don't allow for apartments or condos at that height. The plan for the towers calls for approximately 170 hotel rooms and 280 residential units.
The developers are hoping that the towers, which would be located just east of Westfield Southcenter Mall, would help create a true downtown area for Tukwila, not to mention signal to other developers and businesses that they should move in as well.

City officials will vote on the rezoning issue and building plans at the March 18 council meeting.
