Clocking In With Elissa Ehlin and James Leritz of Kiln

Curbed National's video series Clocking In explores one individual's artistic contributions to the great, wide "wheel" of design; in other words, cool stuff cool people create. Care to nominate someone noteworthy? Do send a note.

The series continues with Elissa Ehlin and James Leritz, the husband-and-wife team that founded Kiln Design Studio, their Brooklyn-based enamelware firm, in 2002. Though the pair has largely focused on tabletop pieces, sculptures, and mobiles—which manage to fuse influences from the American Art Deco period and the art and crafts of the 10th-century Byzantine Empire—Ehlin and Leritz worked with Gwen Carlton, a lighting designer and the co-founder of Bespoke Global, on their first-ever light fixture. Here they put the finishing touches on that very Derrick Chandelier, a stunning, dramatic work made from globs of vitreous enamel affixed to a sleek, angular brass frame. Like what you see? The chandelier is for sale through Bespoke, an online marketplace, of sorts, offering incredible handmade objects from artists all over the world. Above, watch.
