If you've been eagerly-anticipating a chance to check out the sustainably-developed Greenfire Campus apartment complex, Saturday is your first chance. They're hosting a community open house Saturday, May 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 2041 NW 57th Street. Check out the gallery above for a first-look.
Greenfire Campus, the recipient of the 2013 Futurewise Smart Growth Award, is an ecological, urban in-fill campus that includes a five-story apartment building with 18 apartment homes and a four-story, 18,000 square foot office building with retail on the ground floor. It models a new approach to sustainable design by creating an urban ecosystem. The event is the first opportunity for the public to view the 18 apartment homes and pre-lease for mid-June.
If living green if your thing, this is your place. Rain will be collected on the roof and fed to the wetland on the property. An orchard of cherry trees will attract local birds while another area is suited to attract butterflies. Every resident will have a P-Patch to grow their own food. The apartments themselves feature sustainably-sourced materials like locally-made recycled glass counter tops, radiant heat floors, whole house electricity kill switches, and more.
The 18 units range from studio lofts to two bedrooms. And if you've got a guest coming over that needs some space, residents can rent a "guest suite" for $95/night. Find out more about the Saturday event and the campus here.
