Got $3.9M For The Lionel Pries-Designed John & Fannie Hamrick House?

New, 1 comment

John Hamrick is the Pacific Northwest's father of theaters, having started the Rex Theatre, Blue Mouse Theatres, Music Box Theatre, Roxy Theatre and many more. One more long-standing building to his credit is the John and Fannie Hamrick residence in Broadmoor, which just hit the market for $3.895M.

Constructed in 1930 by architect and designer Lionel Pries, the house has been described as classic Santa Barbara Spanish. Possibly meant to evoke Hollywood, the residence eschews windows for interior courtyards, exposed beam ceilings and decorative carvings. Wrough iron balconies and gates, stenciled beams, heraldic shields, and a castone fireplace also evoke the same motifs found in the Music Box Theatre.
