Vulcan & Amazon, Sittin' In A Tree, E-X-P-A-N-D-I-N-G

Somehow, South Lake Union & Downtown Seattle needs more office space. And if anyone is going to provide it, it's Vulcan. Vulcan Inc. announced Friday that it's building two new office buildings for Amazon.com in South Lake Union and prepping one downtown, per PSBJ:

The buildings, which Vulcan calls phases seven and eight of Amazon's headquarters, will add 614,000 square feet of office to Amazon's growing South Lake Union headquarters. Vulcan was the primary developer of the first five phases, which have 1.7 million square feet of office, and construction is underway on the sixth phase, which will have about 362,000 square feet. But that's just the beginning. Around Seventh Avenue and Virginia Street in downtown Seattle, Amazon is developing a 3.3-million-square-foot high-rise campus on three blocks; construction has begun on the first block.

The buildings will cost about $266M to build, according to Vulcan, who anticipate the first building opening in late 2015, the second in 2016 and the downtown Seattle campus possibly by 2017.

FYI, this also means that Amazon is now almost 7.3 million square feet of office space in Seattle. Goodness.
