Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer Takes $20K Less On Whidbey Estate

New, 1 comment

In 2005, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and his wife began buying up property in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. Some were just parcels of land and others included houses but when they were done, they had ten 'view properties,' creating a kind-of beachside compound.

One of those properties was a 1,144 square-foot, 1965-built home that they listed last week for $189,500. According to property records, they ended up selling for $169,500, a $20K cut. Part of the reason they were so eager to sell could be due to the property's proximity to the recent landslide that took out a large chunk of homes.
