Harley & Lela Franco Maritime Center Is Seattle's Newest Green HQ

Going green isn't just for office buildings and apartment complexes. The Harley Marine company has gotten in on the green action as well with their new state-of-the-art headquarters, The Harley & Lela Franco Maritime Center, located on Seattle's Harbor Island.

The 45,000 square-foot, four-story office building includes an open multistory daylight atrium, seven shared conference spaces, a 2,000 square foot training space, a fitness room, showers, bike storage and a large outdoor deck overlooking the water. The LEED Gold-certified building is made up of many moving parts, including a touch pond, three kitchens and fitness center. The architect on the project was Mithun, Inc. and the General Contractor was Schuchart Corporation, the contractor behind the energy-efficient Bullitt Center.

Along with being a greener building, the center is home to a greener parking lot as well. The space includes twelve electric car chargers and Harley Marine plans on purchasing only hybrid, clean diesel or electric engines where available for both marine vessels and motor vehicles.
