FIRST HILL—Seattle University recently purchased the building at 924 E. Cherry St. for $2.2M. The purchase is notable as the seller was the Society of Jesus, a bankrupt church province currently embroiled in a massive sexual-abuse settlement. The building has been used as a residence hall, making it an ideal purchase for SU. [PSBJ]
JUNCTION—Plans for 30 townhouses and live-work units at the former site of Charlestown Cafe will go before the design review board on January 30th. The restaurant building will be demolished and 30 parking spaces will be included. [WSB]
WALLINGFORD—Folks in the area will have to find a new place to dump their trash. Starting Monday, the garbage-transfer station on North 34th Street will close and stay closed for two years. A more efficient and user-friendly facility will be built in its place. In the interim, enjoy the fresh air, neighbors! [Seattle Times]
