Seattle vs. Denver: Super Bowl Ski Cabin Showdown

Colorado and Washington might both be making headlines because of Stonerbowl, but there's something else the states have in common besides killer football teams: skiing. Seattle and Denver are two of the most outdoorsy cities around, and commuting to the mountain is a rite of passage for most weekend warriors. But which city has the better ski real estate? Curbed Seattle and Curbed Ski (representing Denver) have decided to square-off in three categories to decide which urban oasis is the better spot for powder hounds.

Best Ski Lodge For the Whole Family

↑ Colorado is the quintessential spot for family ski trips and this 6 bedroom/8 bath Silverthorne home has plenty of space with 8,600 square feet. $2,995,000 gets you a library, art studio, exercise room, and 2,000 square feet of deck to gaze at the mountains nearby. The best part? At only an hour from Denver, these digs are within a 30 minute drive to 6 world class ski resorts (Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Vail, and Beaver Creek).

↑ Looking for a Washington spot for the whole family? Pack them up (and maybe add a few new family members while you're at it) and head out to The Lodge at Cabin Creek in Easton. This 9-BR/10.5 bath lodge for $2.695M is nestled on 51 acres of pristine land, featuring breathtaking views and Yakima River access. Inside, everyone can get lost roaming between the commercial kitchen, media room, multiple decks, barn and riding corral. Oh, did we mention you should bring the horses, too?

Best Value Cabin

↑ Get away to the mountains without going broke in this private, riverfront 2-BR in Stevens Pass for $295K. Stay cozy inside around the fireplace or stay cozy outside in the hot tub overlooking the river. Just fifteen minutes from the slopes and sleeping up to six, this getaway comes in handy and makes for a solid rental when you're not using it.

↑ Colorado ski town real estate does not come cheap, but this cute pad (alright, it's a mobile home) in Breckenridge would do the job. It might have only 1 bedroom and 1 bath for $279,000, but there's plenty of space outside and we love the expansive deck. Plus, you won't be home much anyways because you're only 10 minutes from Breck and 1 1/2 hours to Denver.

Best Waterfront Property:

↑ The river is the lifeline of the Colorado wilderness and you can't get much closer to water than this 6 bedroom/7 bath home for $1,550,000 on the Eagle River in Minturn. Located just a few minutes from both Vail and Beaver Creek, we love the multiple fireplaces.

↑ You want waterfront? You've got it with this 6-BR/3 bath home in Easton. Included in the $1.495M price tag is 52 acres with four lakes (stocked with fish) on the sunny side of the Cascades. A full-on ski-county resort set-up, the property includes the three-story main lodge, six guest cabins, over thirty camp sites, a massive barn, private dock and cabana. The next great damn ski/lake resort in the Cascades is just waiting for you to make it so.
