Here's What a $26.8M Mercer Island Mansion Looks Like

New, 10 comments

At $26.8M, the asking price for the 5-BR/10.25 bath mansion at 5330 Butterworth Road makes it the 2nd most-expensive home on the market in King County. Once owned by former KIRO CEO Kenneth Hatch, he sold it to Janet Primm Rosa and H. Martin Rosa, former shareholders of Primm Valley Resorts, for $2.4M in 1993. The 15,032 sq. ft. home pretty much has everything you'd expect from luxury mansion on Mercer Island: movie theater, tea room, spa, tap room, massive wine cellar and yacht moorage. There's also no shortage of ways to stay fit and sharp with a sports pavilion with squash court, tennis court, billiards parlor and putting green. It almost feels like there's two competing ideas going on, one trying evoke a luxury from a different time and the other trying to find comfort in recesses of the grand estate. Still, you know you're talking opulent when you've got a soaking tub that requires multiple steps to get to and sits under a flatscreen TV most people would kill for in their living room. Your mission is clear: acquire $26.8M and learn to play squash. Probably best to do it in that order.
