Mixed-Use Complex Bringing The 'Minnie' Back to 1st & Denny

101 Denny Way was once home to 24-hour greasy spoon Caffe Minnie's. Now, it's former spot may soon become home to another type of place people might choose to spend 24 hours...apartments. Minnie Flats is the proposed six-story mixed-use building that will go before the design review board for recommendations on November 4. Containing 82 residential units and 2,642 sq. ft. of commercial space, the triangular lot is expected "to provide an opportunity for those with limited income or with needs for a safe, simple, efficient living environment, to find residence within our urban centers." Early plans call for residential units ranging from 234 to 464 sq. ft. as well as bike storage and a rooftop deck. This could be the kind of place we'll see a lot of in the post-microhousing era of Seattle development.
