The 'Gayest House in Seattle' is All Yours For $749K

The 5-BR Victorian at 1018 E Republican Street in Capitol Hill was once described by The Stranger as "The Gayest House in Seattle." Quite the reputation to live up to. Built in 1903, this pink Painted Lady is now on the market asking $749K. Owner Susan Benner and partner Michelle bought the home in 1987 and are responsible for turning it into a monument to pink. How much pink?

The siding is pink, the deck is pink, the garage is pink, and most of the trim is pink. In addition, every square foot of ornamentation has been detailed in an intricate pattern of pink, dark pink, teal, and yellow. Under each window are two to three pink triangles, symbols of gay pride. That doesn't even take into account the pink flamingos photoshopped onto the TVs in the listing photos. Pink accents aside, the interior maintains a lot of vintage charm even in spite of clear renovations in some rooms. There's only 1.5 bathrooms on the main levels, something to keep in mind if you're bringing a family with you, though there is a full MIL with 3/4 bath below. Regardless, it's hard not to look at this Painted Lady and not be curious about what's going on beyond the pink.
