Curbed Cup First Round: (4) Belltown vs. (13) Green Lake

The Curbed Cup, Curbed Seattle annual Neighborhood of the Year tournament, begins today. The deserving candidates will be presented in two match-ups per day through the week, with results reviewed on Friday. Polls are open for 24 hours, starting now!

This round, Belltown versus Green Lake. Which deserves the Cup more, the foodies downtown or the aerobic folks by the lake?

In this corner…Belltown. Condo, condo, condo and nicely done, too. Live in the middle of everything, and most of the rest is within walking distance. That's handy when you're coming home from the pub, weary from dancing all night, or heading back out for dessert after midnight. And, hey, they got culture. It's the home of Olympic Sculpture Park. Get artsy.

In the other corner…Green Lake. Sure Green Lake has shops and restaurants and trendy places to hang out, but it's got a lake. How cool is that? Actually very cool if you jump in. But, hey, people do strange things there - like race milk carton canoes. Where else can you do laps for miles without having to worry about traffic lights? Watch out for the baby strollers though. Some of them come by pretty fast. You know it was bigger long ago, right?

It's a battle between the strolling through the city versus running laps around nature. Who moves on to the Elite Eight?
