16 Photos of Alki Beach Before You Were Born


Last week we took a look back at Downtown Seattle and, in a way, we're doing the same this week. Members of the Denny Party claimed land on Alki Point on September 28, 1851 and began what would one day become the city of Seattle. Even after the center of town shifted across Elliott Bay, Alki continued to grow, taking advantage of its waterfront and location. Let's see what things looked like way back when amusement parks and carousels ruled the day.
