On Monday, we mentioned the development plans on Mercer Island that would have led to the demolition of The Coval House, the massive custom-built home that owners Myer and Barbara Coval have been unable to sell for years. The Mercer Island City Council heard arguments regarding the planned eighteen-home development across five acres and promptly voted against it Monday evening. The council cited environmental sustainability, traffic safety and drainage concerns amongst their reasons for rejection. And so, Coval House lives on, but, no word on what the owners will do now.
