Tunnel Watch

You can blame Seattle Tunnel Partners for a lot of things (Lord knows we have), but don't blame them for not trying. The team in charge of Bertha spent three work shifts trying to move the boring machine as temperatures spiked, motors shut down and mud flooded in in the critical December 6 and 7 timeframe that has since left her stranded. The Seattle Times has plenty more details from quality-verification reports they received after a public-disclosure request. [Seattle Times] Photo: Ben Brooks
