SOUTH LAKE UNION—On Wednesday, developer Schnitzer West dropped $15.75M for the almost one-acre property at the northwestern corner of Fairview Ave North and Republican Street. Plans call for a 12-story office complex called Urban Union with construction starting in late summer/early fall. [PSBJ]
BELLTOWN—Bell Street Park, the new park on Bell Street between First through Fifth Avenues, is officially complete and Seattle will be holding a celebration on Saturday between 2 and 5 p.m. to commemorate the space. This project transformed four blocks into a 56K square foot street park. [DJC]
WEST SEATTLE—Despite protests from former mayor Mike McGinn, the Seattle City Council has approved the Whittaker, a mixed-use project proposed for 4755 Fauntleroy Way S.W. The controversy stemmed from anchor tenant Whole Foods, which is not union and also wanted permission to take over an alley next to the structure. [PSBJ]
