Biggest Apartment Complex Sale of 2014, Historic Langley Building Coming Down

BELLEVUEThe Piedmont, a 396-unit apartment complex in Bellevue, recently sold for $76.4M. That's notable since it's the most anyone has paid for an apartment property in King County in 2014 so far. It's also 44% more than what it sold for seven years ago. [PSBJ]

WEST SEATTLE— For the second time in a week, a house in the 10000 block of 39th SW in Arbor Heights has caught fire. Investigators are still looking into the first fire and are unsure if this second fire was deliberate or whether or not it "rekindled." [WSB]

WHIDBEY ISLAND— The Dog House Tavern, an iconic century-old building in downtown Langley, is coming down. At least, that's the plan according to the owner following multiple failed attempts to work with the city on options for renovations. The owner doesn't know what will replace the building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [SWR]
