'If REI Had An Apartment Building,' It Might Be True North

New, 1 comment

True North is the direction along the earth's surface that leads you to the North Pole. If that sounds like the kind of adventure that's right up your alley, then we've found an aptly-named place for you.

True North in South Lake Union wants to be home for Seattle's urban adventurer. The 286-unit building, designed by architectural firm Weber Thompson, boasts a long list of ammenites catered for the active personality type as well as plenty of space for almost any social gathering you could imagine.

"When we were in the development phase, we wanted to have a story for our building. The idea we really liked was, if REI had an apartment building, what would that look like?", says Kate Suski Development Associate for Holland Development.

You catch the outdoorsy vibe almost instantly as you enter the lobby and are greeted by a ventless fireplace. Just off the lobby is a lounge/library that will offer a collection of guide books to inspire your next adventure. The library was sourced by Back 40 Outfitters, who is partnering with True North to offer regular lectures and rentals for any camping gear you could need for your escape.

Other adventurer-friendly features includes storage units for bikes, skis/snowboards and kayaks. There's also a work station to repair your gear, heated crew lockers to dry everything off and a 24-hour gym with treadmill, stationary bike, and rock wall. The wall with have new route settings done once a quarter. Paddleboards and kayaks will also be made available for use.

As for those times when you don't feel like being on the run? True North offers five terraces with plenty of seating and city views, including a few hammocks. There's also a roof-deck pizza oven, game room, Skeeball, shuffleboard, pinball and arcade machines.

Backing up their call to environmentally-friendly residents, developer Holland Partner Group will purchase and plant a tree for each apartment they lease as part of Forterra's Green Cities Program. Nearly 300 trees will be part of the urban forest restoration in the Queen Anne neighborhood.

True North offers 1-BR, 2-BR and Live/Work spaces over 4,999 sq. ft. of to-be-determined retail space. The building is already 55% leased so, if you're interested, hurry up and get more info on their website.
