There are 18,481 homes certified by the U.S. Green Building Council currently in America and 1,769 of them can be found right here in Washington State. That puts up 8th overall in the nation, just ahead of Massachusetts and New Mexico, but way behind California (9,186). To be fair, they have a bit more space than we do. Around the world, 140,364 homes are certified or registered with LEED. LEED homes use 20% to 30% less energy, on average, than ones built to code, with some homes saving up to 60%, according to the council. Some LEED certified homes currently on the market include this Magnolia townhouse and this Fremont 2-BR.
