Ever wonder if there are other place in the world where the people of that specific city or country feel the same way about life as you do? Are there places with similar government policies and community focuses that prove what's happening (or not happening) here isn't a fluke? The Organization for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD) decided to find out. Using a measurement of eight topics (income, jobs, health, access to services, environment, education, safety, and civic engagement), they determined a way to compare regions around the world.
So who does Washington State compare to? According to the OECD, we share a similar well-being with Nova Scotia, Greater London, Western Finland and Southern & Eastern Ireland. Factors that Washington scores well in include access to services, education, environment and income. Factors that Washington scores poorly in include jobs, civic engagement and safety.
