People flock to Washington's many islands for a chance to get away, relax and explore. But why does a trip to the islands need to be a vacation? What if you could call that island home instead? We're not talking about buying a house on Orcas Island or Whidbey Island. We're talking about literally buying an island all for yourself. It's possible! At any given time, a handful of island are on the market all over Puget Sound and you don't have to be Paul Allen to own one (though it certainly helps). Right now, there's two to choose from, let's take a closer look.
The cheapest option currently on the market would be Ram Island, asking $3.5M. At almost 10 acres and almost 4K feet of water frontage, that's a lot of open land all for yourself. Located close to Lopez Island in the San Juans, you're gonna have to put in some work. There's no power, no potable water and no buildings to speak of. There are, however, amazing 360-degree views of Mt. Baker and the other islands, though. Take the good with the bad.
If you're looking for something a bit more sizable and already settled upon, look no further than Trump Island. The 29-acre island just off of Decatur Island in the San Juans isn't named for who you think it's named for. It includes a 7,029-square-foot 6-BR house, greenhouse, 1,200-square-foot caretaker's cottage, helipad and deep-water dock. Of course, all that is gonna cost you. The entire island is currently asking $8.75M.
