Building Boom

San Francisco is far and away the hottest market in the nation when it comes to new residential building, but Seattle is holding its own quite well. In a Wall Street Journal piece about how New York City is lagging in residential construction, Seattle is called out for being among the nation's best residential growth markets, alongside Washington, D.C. and Boston. Seattle's annual level of new residential units authorized is up 146.8% since 2003, the 2nd-highest in the nation. [WSJ]
