Where Are Washingtonians Born? Half The Time It's Not Here

The New York Times has put together some interactive charts showing how Americans have moved between states since 1900. Here in Washington, what was once a state made up of Midwestern migrants slowly morphed into a new home for migrants from other Western state such as California and Oregon. In fact, that migration is ongoing as the WA population of those born in Oregon and California has doubled since 1980. In 2012, 47% of folks in Washington were born here while 19% came from a different Western state. The least likely place a Washingtonian would be born in? The Northeast. Go figure.
