Go Find One of the 50 Parks in Seattle for PARK(ing) Day

On the third Friday in September every year, Seattle celebrates PARK(ing) Day, a chance to temporarily turn parking spaces into public places and raise awareness about the importance of a walkable, livable, healthy city. Well guess what today is? PARK(ing) Day!

This year, more than 50 pop-up parks are planned all over the city and you can visit each of them between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The beauty of each park is that they all come with their own specific themes. The Ballard Writers Park will feature an outdoor reading room. Head over to The Junction for a "bicycle/ice cream-oriented" park. The park at 225 N Terry Ave will feature a DIY Rube Goldberg Machine. And over at 411 Terry Ave N you can pot your own plant and take it home with you.

Check out our recap of last year's big day and check out the full map and rundown of each park for 2014 right here. Happy PARK(ing)!
