"Long recognized as a primary contributor to Northwest design, Dave McKinley with his partner Paul Hayden Kirk did much to establish and develop our region's modern design directions." Those were the words of Jennie Sue Brown on the nomination of David McKinley to receive the AIA Seattle Medal in 1999. As part of the firm Kirk, Wallace, McKinley & Associates, McKinley had a hand in everything from buildings constructed for the Seattle World's Fair to what seems like half of the University of Washington. Along the way he also designed the 2-BR at 2600 W Bertona in Magnolia that just hit the market asking $969K. The rare midcentury modern that can still hold on to that word 'modern,' the home maintains an open flow that's reminiscent of the era while also feeling current. According to the broker babble, "rumor has it dignitaries, artists and more have graced this home over the years." Why didn't you say that about YOUR house when you were selling it?
