While Seattle is clearly one of the nation's best cities for pet owners, it's not among the nation's most pet-friendly cities for renters. That's according to HotPads, who has come out with a map of the most pet-friendly zip codes around the nation. Looking over the region, it's clear that if you're looking to share a rented space with an animal, you're going to have much better luck on the other side of Lake Washington. It also appears to be an affluence issue, as Downtown Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and Mercer Island make it easy while your odds drop sharply in North and South Seattle. If you're staying in Seattle, it looks like you've got a one-in-three chance of finding a pet-friendly place but your best zip code bets are 98101 (North Downtown, median rent of $1,850), 98109 (East Queen Anne, $1,720) and 98116 (West Seattle, $1,597).
The worst area to look? 98104 (South Downtown), where only 11.7% of listings are cool with Mr. Pickles. What all of those zip codes do have in common is that they're all more expensive than Seattle's average median rent.
