1420 Howell Efficiency Dwelling Complex Plans Coming Together

Caron Architecture will present the proposed four-story complex at 1420 E Howell to the design review board for recommendation on January 28. It's notable since the complex will house 57 "small residential units," which makes it part of this initial wave of efficiency dwellings projects to hit Seattle since new legislation changed the game. Averaging about 350 sq. ft. per residence, the complex features a courtyard in lieu of a rooftop deck and bike storage in lieu of parking. Three basement units will also get their own private patio space. Close to the impending light rail station and other transit options, the building could add a good alternative for cheaper rentals in the neighborhood if and when completed.
